Shop for a Survivor Clothing Resale Event

The Shop for a Survivor event held in the Fairhope Civic Center during the Fairhope Art Walk will feature the resale of clothing donated by generous local citizens and businesses. The gathering will provide an opportunity for Little Tree Project to share about the local issue of human trafficking to spread awareness and raise funds for the organization’s prevention and aftercare programs.

The event will also provide an opportunity to start the conversation of the continuous need of the community's donations of clothing and other in-kind items. The environment will be relaxed and inviting where light, fall-themed refreshments will be provided by Kind Cafe to the event attendees as they explore and purchase clothing.

We will have second-hand clothing from great brands like J-Crew, Carly Jean Los Angeles, Zara, and more at prices as low as $3! In addition to our clothing resale, we will also have Little Tree Project merch available for purchase, and several of your favorite local vendors including The Threaded Oyster, The Quirky Mac, Better Together Laser Artistry, and more!

Did we mention that we are also having this event on Art Walk Friday?! See you there!

We are extremely grateful for our two Silver Event Sponsors:

  • Fulcrum Construction Group

  • Marine Upholstery Solutions

Giving Tuesday

Mark your calendars! Little Tree Project is proudly participating in their first Giving Tuesday, the global day of unity and giving. As you may know, our organization is launching a trauma-informed, long term aftercare program and residency for survivors of human trafficking in South Alabama. Through trauma-informed aftercare services, safe residency, and living-wage job opportunities, we see a lasting and sustainable change in the issue and impacts of modern slavery. But we can’t do this without you!

Not only do we need your support, we need your help to spread the word. Please consider telling your friends and family why you believe in our work and encourage them to support us too!

Here’s how you can get involved and participate in Giving Tuesday benefitting Little Tree Project:

  • Help us fundraise by rallying your own community and network to give and get involved through peer-to-peer fundraising

  • Donate and volunteer your time, energy, goods or extra supplies

  • Raise awareness through word of mouth and sharing our information through emails or social media

  • Partner Financially

Thank you for being a part of the Little Tree Project team. Together we can see a lasting change in the issue and impacts of modern slavery!

Giving Tuesday Now

Giving Tuesday Now

COVID-19 has brought the world to a halt, but human trafficking is just as thriving as ever. In fact, its increasing and traffickers are finding new ways to prey on the vulnerabilities of victims. Thats why we need your help.

With your help, we will be able to launch our organization and be closer to providing victims and survivors of trafficking hope and purpose through our program! You can end someone's suffering today. If you’re interested in contributing, follow this link to our giving page.

3 Ways Trafficking Has Gotten Worse during the COVID-19 Pandemic:

1️. Sex traffickers are taking advantage of this nation-wide coronavirus pandemic by luring in isolated kids through online platforms. Since it is recommended for everyone to stay indoors, porn sites are offering free or discounted rates for viewing explicit content. While kids are out of school, research shows that porn searches skyrocket by 4700%.⠀

2️. During this crisis, many people enjoy staying at home with their families. But the victims of trafficking are held as hostages, unable to escape to other shelters apart from their traffickers. ⠀

3️. During unemployment and unstable living conditions, people can become susceptible to the idea of prostitution. This fear of financial loss is one of the main motivations many men and women turn to other "employers" (or more commonly known as "traffickers") who offer hope and a paycheck. Unfortunately, the tables turn very quickly, exposing false hope, dangerous situations, and illegal jobs. ⠀

Slavery is no joke. It must be stopped. Prevention can make all the difference. By spreading awareness, we will save our children, expose traffickers, and put an end to modern-day slavery!

We are so thankful to be able to participate in the global generosity movement of Giving Tuesday Now.

- The Little Tree Project Team

"Mobilizing the World Through Giving

"We believe that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad. A global threat like COVID-19 touches every person on the planet, and it presents an opportunity to come together as a global community.

#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

Let’s come together to create a wave of generosity, citizen engagement, action from business and philanthropy, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world."

Harriet Watchparty

If you’re anything like us, you’re missing movie nights with friends during these crazy times. Join us for our very first virtual watch-party to watch the movie, Harriet, while honoring one of the greatest abolitionists of all time, Harriet Tubman. It’s completely free to you! All you need to do is to download Zoom on your device and join in on May 1st. Check out the details on our Facebook Page.

Harriet Tubman had a huge impact on the fight against slavery in the United States through her influence and involvement in the Under Ground Railroad and the Union fight in the Civil War. The evidence of the amazing person Tubman was is overwhelming and her accomplishments are too many to count! Check out our little blog on her here.

Because of Tubman’s little known role as a professional cook and the recent trend of themed dinners during the quarantine, we created a dinner inspired by Harriet Tubman to go along with this watch party for you and your family to enjoy. Menu is coming soon!

We are looking forward to hanging out with you and watching a movie to honor one of the many freedom fighters that have paved the way for us to have liberty - Harriet Tubman!

“Fear is your enemy. God had no intention for people to own people.”

{ This movie is rated PG-13. As was indicative and realistic to the time, there are some racial slurs, curse words, and even violence. Although its important to remember the reality of slavery, we don’t recommend you watch this with small children. If you are interested in learning more about all the movie entails to feel comfortable with viewing this film, we recommend that you visit this link. We just ask that you use your own discretion. }
